Product Highlight
— MXR Color Mixing
Scroller —
The
MXR's magic is in its unique color strings. Putting a new twist
on two-string color mixing, the MXR's innovative color selection
and frame sequence maximize the useful colors. Multiple
designers can now share a stage, as nightmare color changeovers
between shows are eliminated. And students can now develop
their own color tastes without being limited to the gel on hand
or swatchbook.
With
the direct drive 4-motor system providing quiet and smooth color
transition and low power consumption, the MXR gives the designer
absolute color control at a very affordable price.
Off the shelf color works fine for many lighting applications,
but the MXR gives you far more custom color options. Using the
subtractive color mixing method to achieve the desired hue and
saturation, hundreds of different colors can be realized. To
further the creative process, the primary additive colors (Red,
Green, Blue, and Indigo) have been added to the ends of each
string.

Handy's Helpful Hints
DMX ... Did You Know?
Did you know that
depending on how DMX devices are designed you can get valid DMX on a
receiving device even if Data- is missing or Data- and Common are
swapped?
If
you have a system where one console works and another does not or
there is random flickering, one of the easiest things to check is
valid data. However, depending on how you check for it you may get
a false reading. If in doubt, verify that all cabling has a
continuous Data- by using a cable checker on portable cables or a
two-trace scope on a live system. Yes, connect both traces so you
can verify that your signal is equal amplitude and inverted. Two
traces on the scope that are not inverted may mean you are missing a
Data+ or Data-!
A
swapped Data- and a Common can also be found using the above methods
and typically is caused by a black Data- wire being swapped with a
black heatshrinked Common.
Of
course there are other reasons for loss of control and flickering so
always be thinking through your troubleshooting.
